INFAMOUS...AND DERREN BROWN...

Ahoy!  Not sure why I'm channeling Sailor Speak there, but it's a nice sunny day and that kind of larky, jolly greeting seems somehow appropriate.

I can't help thinking he may be laughing at me
Soooooo, what's been happening, I hear you ask?  Well, I am able to tell you, adored reader, that I did just over a week ago see one of my actual Heroes in actual Real Life.

Oh yes. I am still basking in the afterglow of the wonderfulness that was seeing...

Mr Derren Brown

IN  THE  FLESH!

Actually I can no longer use that phrase with the abandon I did on the days leading up to my visit to The Theatre to watch Mr B.  It seems I greatly disturbed Daughter Aged 10 with my constant reference to 'the flesh'.

TIM BURTON

Or...My Latest Hero To Make it into The Hall

(I tried to rename my Hall of Heroes 'People I Would Like to be Stuck in an Old-Fashioned Train Carriage With'.  But it made the tab at the top waaaaay too long)

It is often suggested to me, by Mr W, that I should update my Hall of Heroes a little more regularly.

Indeed, No.1 Son (aged 14) inferred that it was more a Lobby than a Hall...

So, swelling the ranks today is the Wonderful Mr Tim Burton *sigh*.

Go.  Enjoy.  He's great.

Derren Brown - Hall of Heroes

Derren Brown
Lovely, ain't he?
Not a post, not really.  More an update.

I've added DB to my Hall of Heroes.

Bit concerned my Hall is not ever so very user-friendly.  Anyone know how to do it like a Home Page?  With jump breaks and the like?

Anyone...?

Stalker Tendencies

Becoming a leeeetle concerned.

Climbing into the car with the kiddies after school, I overheard a Mum talking to her child as they walked past.   (The car windows were open - it has been very warm for March).

And Mum says, "We must go straight  home - Uncle Derren is cutting the grass."

Some Grass
 ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Derren ?   Really ? ?  As in one of my heroes? ? ?

(See my Heroes page.  Later though, I haven't put him on there yet).

The inscrutable Mr Derren Brown of Mind-Melding and Pointy Beard fame?  Whose sleight of brain and sharpness of hand have enthralled and delighted me since first I clapped eyes on him?

Star Struck

I used to think  I was quite cool (not that there has ever been any evidence to support this) but I have recently found myself to be what can only be described as Starstruck.

So far I have managed to spend my life pretty much entirely avoiding contact with Stars, both major and minor.

However, I always thought that, should I come face to face with a celebrated personage, I might retain an air of dignity - perhaps even issue forth with a charming/witty observation.

That was until a recent encounter with a Famous Person in my local corner shop caused me to revise my opinion.

In very close proximity to aforementioned FP my throat closed, I went bright red and sweated - a lot.

Now this person was someone whose programmes I enjoy, but I wouldn't say I was in awe of them.  Why they should elicit such an extreme(ly unattractive) response is quite beyond me.

Naturally enough this whole episode brought to the surface a striking dilemma.

Love Child

Lauren Child

Another reason to love Lauren Child (see Hall of Heroes).

My 9 year old daughter adores LC's books and wrote her a lovely letter telling her just that.

And do you know what?  Within a matter of days,  she received a personalised letter in reply.

How adorable is that?

I'll tell you . . . . it's very, very adorable.

It's Good to have a Hero (I think)

'Many' of you have written in telling me all about your heroes, so I thought I would start a little Virtual Gallery of my own.

I admire all sorts of people for many different reasons.  Some don their hero capes for fleeting visits, some are a tad more permanent.

All the entries in my Hall of Heroes are particularly special to me, and yet - when I come to write about my reasons for allocating a special place in my heart to them - my keyboard goes blank.

Oh, what does it matter?  Only my husband and best buddy look at this anyway!
